| The second go at getting this flying was on Sunday and it was more entertaining than the first. Colin repaired the nose leg and shifted the c of g forward by removing the lead of the tail and repositioning the tank. So with the engine running ok'ish I started off across the field and try end to rotate but nothing happened until someone said abort, so I cut the throttle and it immediately took off,so I raised the throttle again and it was flying sort of. After a couple of circuits I was just getting use to it when the engine quit. I tried to get it back to the field but didn't quite clear the top of the tallest tree the other side of the road where it lodged. It was about 40 feet up and trying to throw Phil's grappling hook up that high was amusing and impossible, I didn't get a chance to ask Phil why he had rope and a grappling hook in his van. I told my son Adam who was home from China for a week about the stuck model and I could sense he wasn't going to let it stay there. So the next day we went to the field and before I could stop him he climbed the tree and shook it down where it landed in the brambles with the only damage was one winglet broke off. So the flycat does have nine lives! | |
