Hi John
its looking good!
I think the stuka is great as you can hide most engines inside the cowl & I think that improves the scale appearance! Very Happy

Got back on the build ,first thing was sort out the control rods came up with some 6mm hollow carbon rods strong but very light .
one end fitted a female fitting to take a 3mm rod ,other end male fitting to connect to servos. Glued with Ca and pined for safety

Skyleaders new build Stuka Controlrod1_zpse16c0ba4

Fitted to the servos

Now i can get on with the fuss sheeting had to plank around the bottom to get the radius right

Made up a small tool to rebate the shrouds into the trailing edges going to glue in 1/64 ply and fine tune the gap then sand smooth and glass over them

Skyleaders new build Stuka Rebatetool_zpse0e580dd

They should fit in nicely

Made a start by building the wing center section

Skyleaders new build Stuka Center_zpscf1a8a86

Skyleaders new build Stuka Centerwheels_zps501724f4

need to build both wing panels separate from the center section because they have washout at the tips this needs to be done before removing from the building board so top is fully sheeted

Skyleaders new build Stuka Topwingpanel_zpse30223f7

Skyleaders new build Stuka Wingpanel_zps18306ead

the panels are fined tuned to join to the center section

Skyleaders new build Stuka Wingsitting_zps2c1cea81

Thats it for now

Well the weather is very bad so getting plenty of build time in the warm Very Happy decided to make my own servo mounts you can buy these but have time to waste Laughing

Skyleaders new build Stuka Servo_zps2eebc4c2

Skyleaders new build Stuka Servomounted_zps48f9f48c

I can now fit these into the wing on a ply plate with a inspection cover for maintenance

Skyleaders new build Stuka Servoinwing_zpse3ef027b

next job is to start the ailerons and flaps, there not very conventional but hang down under the back of wing on a hinge rods that passes thorough them, so a grove is required in the leading edge, i ran the stock over my table saw to get a nice fit

Skyleaders new build Stuka Alrons_zpse3663995
Skyleaders new build Stuka Grove_zpsf8346aa7

Skyleaders new build Stuka Groveinflap_zps0f5c86c7

next part of the build is to finish the outer wing panels and line them up,to get as much sheeting done on the center section as possible

Skyleaders new build Stuka I_zps7839d1d2
Skyleaders new build Stuka Center2_zps5b662320
now to join the lot up see how big this wing is

Skyleaders new build Stuka Wingstogether_zpsd1a86291

Thats it for now Bravo

I 'm building it in one piece as i have my van Very Happy its quite a difficult build in one ,would be a nightmare affraid in three pieces trying to get the alignment with a wing tube Bravo

Ray the dowel is 1/2" in old money Very Happy and only sticks out probably 1/2 at the most would take a colossal amount of force to break, the former with the hole would let go first i hope lol!

Thats good then, i was thinking 1/4", as you said, it would take a reet catastrophe to snap 1/2" dowel!!

Thanks for the invitation John, I came to have a looksee and nice workmanship cheers That LE dowel needs a brass collar around it, you'll find out why if you don't. How far are you going with scale detail, F4C? and a must have, is a working siren.

Well the weather is still very bad so no flying affraid thankfully i have the Stuka to build, so for those looking in here is a little update

spent some time joining the wing up to get the dihedral correct, and then sheeting this is a very fiddly job and needs lots of patients but as come out a treat.

The ailerons and double flaps are something else, really fiddly and took a lot of felting before i was happy with them.
