| Have finally got round to putting the 'Cat together. This isn't going to happen quickly as i'm only able to get a couple of evenings a week after work to do it, so don't expect to see it flying this side of Xmas. The first job is to put the flaps on the centre section of the wing. No photo's yet, but it did make me realise I needed to purchase some extra servos (there's 8 in the wing!!! 2 x inboard flaps, 2 x outer flaps, 2 x throttles and 2 x ailerons). As the four flaps ideally wanted identical servos to ensure sequencial operation, plus the fact that they are of substantial size, I searched around for some fairly heafty servos. This is what I found......12kg torque, double ball raced and metal gears.........£8.06 each!! http://www.giantcod.co.uk/towerpro-mg946r-12kg-heavy-duty-servo-p-405044.htmlThey do get a bit of critisism for not having particularly good centreing, but on flaps, they don't need to be. I wouldn't recommend them on an big model for aileron/elevator or rudder use, but for heavy/large flaps (leave it!!) or speed brakes, I think they should be just the ticket. If you have yet to use Giant Cod, check out their website for prices. I buy all my servo leads from them. | |

| Well done, Ian. Yes, you do need your own servo company for that one! The Major |

| During the Xmas period, I had to clear the workbench in the garage for masses of food, drink and prezzies.
Now it is over, I have decided to put my small turbine into my replacement L-39 Albatross (remember the one I crashed into the electric fence post?), then I might put the Goldberg Sukhoi/Mintor 33 together before finally getting back round to the Tigercat.
Silly I know, but the T'cat kit isn't particularly good and needs improvement to each part as you assemble it (just my opinion). So, sorry to say but it's goona be a long time in the making!

| So not as to rush this build, I have just completed the wing of my Tigercat!! Thought I would weigh it...... 74" span, 4 flaps, two ailerons, scale air retracts and two Zenoah 20's. Anyone wanna guess the weight of the finished wing???? 18lbs!!! Should float around for ages if the engines go quiet | |

| Still a way off yet John. The manual advises glueing the complete wing assembly together. However, due to it's size, I'm altering it so the panels outboard of the motors are removable. Once that is done, it's onto the fuselage. I reckon it'll be November time at the earliest. Once its ready, I'll call you down to the club. | |

| Hi Ian Yes its been a while since I last flew but so busy with long hours at work and loads of driving, by the time the Weekend is here I just crash out. Not sure about the christmas party as Garyoke is not everyone's cup of tea and could put people off going or leaving early and dont want the blame for that So please go to the Christmas meal folks, dont fret as I will stay away and no evening spoilt Hows the Jets going | |

| Ian, I know your always juggling your build time with work and family life, but do you have a rough idea when the Cat will be all done, dusted and ready for the maiden??
I suspect there will be quite a few of us wanting see you put this one though its paces!! | |

| Ray Its pretty well there now except for balancing. Problem being is the instruction don't say weather or not it should be balanced wheels up or down. I'll probably go for wheel up, so the c of g can only go forward when the gear is lowered. As far as maiden is concerned, I probably won't advertise the date. A plane like this looks better being flown properly rather than out of trim. Also, should it bite the dust, I'm likely to trample all over it. Yes, I know you'd like to see that, but I'm better off have a "paddy" on my own!! | |
