retracts

after chatting to Paul he suggested that I use seperate batteries for the flight controls & retracts,
Paul couldn't remember how to do it, so if anyone can help I would be v,happy.
ps please remember I need electrickery instructions in simple terms!

SM SERVICES do an auxiliary battery unit for £6.95, the same one that was used in the big thunderbolt. No trickery involved just plug it in and your done...

It all really depends on the internal resistance of the power supply you intend to use and the type of load that will be connected to it.
To simplify it, you can can utilise Ohm's Law to give you the required values: So, to work out the current draw (I) take the nominal supply voltage (V) and divide it by the resistance of your load (R), thus I=V/R

Failing that, go to SM Services

Cut through and tape up the +ive lead on the foot of a standard Y lead

Then

From the retract battery to a standard switch harness to the modified Y lead to the retract channel on the Rx.

From the other leg of the Y to the retract servo.

What you are doing then is powering the servo from the seperate battery (JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU MODIFY THE Y LEAD BEFORE YOU PLUG IT ALL IN)

All the other channels and flight battery are connected as standard.

Try it all on the bench first. You'll see that if you unplug the retact battery to simulate a dead one, all the flight controls still work.


If you still have it have a look at the wiring on the twin mustang, piece of cake

It has to be a Y lead, it wont work with the block type leads where both servos go into a block

I tried daves method & got a scarf!!!!!!!!!!!
& ohms law is like murphys to me!

If your using one servo to drive both retract legs, just come straight off the receiver. Why complicate it?

it was just to avoid flattening the flight battery,
perhaps a bit belt & braces, but the harness from sm is only £6 so better than a flyaway!
so thought I would try it!
