Subject: First Person View - The Next step in r/c? Tue 14 Sep 2010, 8:13 pm
Hi guys
There's a new development in r/c some of you may have heard of called First Person View. You put a custom camera on a plane, link it into satellites, then fly it with panoramic goggles so you're 'in the cockpit'. I've been dicking around with it for about six months and it's really trippy, especially when you're on something as zippy as a Funjet. This will enable us hopefully to get some much tighter air-to-air shots down at the patch when I've got the better HD camera set up. Meanwhile here are some great short films to give you the possibilities:

That's the Mutts Nuts!!
I love all the on screen detail as well (distance from ground unit, height, speed and battery volts/amps). Do you see this info throught the goggles or just in playback?

It's all through the goggles. This enables you, for instance, to fly a Funjet above the clouds out of sight of the ground and get back safely.

It takes a little getting used to unless you've been playing video games
