Hi all
Anybody know if the phosphur bronze main bearing in the crankcase can be replaced or do I have to scrap the engine?
I,ve looked on the os site but to no avail. Shame cos there's loads of compression and no wear except on the bearing.
Any ideas great fully accepted.

Are you sure that it's had it Dave?
I have had many of the plain bearing OS' s (FP version) and they do on forever!
I believe the bearing is a non serviceable item, which is why I question your question? The crankshaft do have a lot of end float on them. What makes you think its U/S?

Hi Ian, thanks for reply.
Yes, its not end float, the bearing is worn at the conrod end allowing the crankshaft to wobble sideways and up and down. I guess its been run lean at some time. Didnt notice till I put a prop on it but now its stripped down its easily seen. Its classed as a vintage engine now and spares are rare/unavailable. Gonna try Kent bearings, if I can get somewhere near it, I can machine it at school.
Cheers
